We don't have a 24/7 intensivist coverage in one of our community hospitals. Hiring more physicians to extend our coverage is very expensive and unjustified by the volume and acuity of our patients.
Currently we are looking into eICU model to "close the gap" in coverage. It looks good on a paper, but how well it works in a real world?
