This is a PET scan of the patient diagnosed with a tongue tumor (squamous cell carcinoma). The PET scan image shows increased uptake at the base of the tongue (black arrow above) consistent with malignancy. There is also increased uptake in jugular lymph nodes, indicating metastatic spread.
