Pneumothorax

This is a very nice educational video describing the mechanism of pneumothorax formation. We see a lot of patients with pneumothorax after a traumatic injury to the chest. Spontaneous pneumothorax happens much less often. The patients on a ventilator who require high ventilatory pressures might develop pneumothorax as a complication of barotrauma.
