Influenza Pneumonia
It hit us late this year (end of February 2011) but we got a few sick patients with influenza. Luckily, we were spared from any H1N1 cases so far.
The Chest XR above demonstrates bilateral patchy infiltrates in a patient presenting with Influenza A viral infection.
Despite the dramatic changes on the chest XR the patient did Ok clinically and no ventilatory support was necessary.
The patient was started on broad spectrum antibiotics (in addition to Tamiflu) to prevent/treat post-influenza pneumonia.
