This week a young boy was diagnosed with an inoperable AVM. The surgeons were able to direct the development of a new tool to reach his AVM (in a matter of weeks) and the young boy was operated on and saved. While I do agree this was far-fetched to think that medical equipment could be designed and approved that quickly I do think that this was a nice reminder that there is always hope. I think sometimes as physicians we are so methodical and fact based that perhaps we do not take the time to let our imaginations sneak in and allow us to imagine other possibilities-- other great possibilities. I am going to start working on that.
