Does patient census affect care quality in ICU

At the times of increased admissions volume to ICU do we discharge patients prematurely to open more beds for admissions, potentially compromizing the quality of care?

No I do not think we are compromising patient care. It is not like we are discharging them home- they are still in the hospital and with the advent of rapid response teams I think that we are doing a better job of recognizing the early signs of a patient who is not doing well.
