I don't know what hospital

I don't know what hospital you are associated with but at the hospital where my mother was just prior to her death in Sept. 2007, the nurses used restraints just so they didn't have to be bothered. The family members were there 24/7 and the nurses still gave us a hard time when we insisted that restraints on her wrists had to be removed. They caused her premature death by an assault when they tied her in a chair and used very excessive force on her to elevate her legs. Then they altered her medical record particularly for this day because they never reported this assault. I still have a copy of her record and will prove they changed the record and will file a suit against those nurses. Altering a record to hide what happened is NOT allowed and they will eventually be charged. Anyone who feels restraints are OK should read from JCAHO and other organizations on the internet and possibly be placed in restraints themselves to see if you enjoy it!! Why don't nurses do their jobs and restraints would be used much less.
