Complete spinal cord transsection

Complete spinal cord transsection.

The patient presented after a motor vehicle accident. He sustained Thoracic spine injury with cord compromise. CT thoracic spine revealed fractures at T4 and T9 levels.

MRI spine done prior to the spine stabilization showed complete cord transsection at T8-T9 levels (see image above). Note a better resolution and spinal cord visualization at T8-T9 levels with MRI technique.
