Femur fracture with an intramedullary rod
The patient developed a femur fracture due to a motor vehicle accident. An intramedullary titanium rod was placed to stabilize the fracture (black arrow on the image above). Unfortunately, the patient developed a fat embolism as a complication of the long bone fracture.
